Alice in the Country of Hearts: Mad Hatter’s Late Night Tea Party Volume 1 (Seven Seas Entertainment, 9781937867782)
Robin: For the love of Pete, how many Alice in the Country of Hearts sub-stories are there? It’s getting to the point that my catalogers hate me.
Anything That Loves (Northwest Press, 9781938720321)
Snow: I was one of the Kickstarter backers for Anything That Loves and I’m looking forward to reading it. (I actually have a copy, but review deadlines keep getting in the way!)
Bandette Volume 1: Presto (Dark Horse, 9781616552794)
Snow: I saw an ad for Bandette while I was at ALA this summer and the cover was so intriguing that I’ve been looking forward to it ever since.
Robin: Bandette also looks lovely, with Colleen Coover’s simply, fluid art. Looking forward to seeing more of it and I love the idea that it’s a pseudo-Francophone comic.
Old City Blues Volume 2 (Archaia, 9781939867025)
Jenny: I enjoyed the scratchy, retro cyberpunk feel of the first volume of Giannis Milonogiannis’s Old City Blues and would like to see where the story goes in volume 2.
Other Stories and the Horse You Rode in On (Conundrum Press, 9781894994743)
Gail: Looking forward to this title as well, especially as it takes place next door (ok, the next province over)
Showa: History of Japan 1926-1939 (Drawn & Quarterly, 9781770461352)
Jenny: Cultural history plays into all of Shigeru Mizuki’s works in English so far (Nonnonba, Kitaro, Onward Towards Our Noble Deaths), so I’d love to see what he does in a more straight-up history with Showa History of Japan 1926-1939.
Swamp Thing Volume 3: Rotworld the Green Kingdom (DC Comics, 9781401242640)
Traci: I’m really excited for the new Swamp Thing tpb – Rotworld. I’m really enjoying the story and the artwork is unbelievable. I like how it intersects with the Animal Man series, too.
Vinland Saga Volume 1 (Kodansha)
Emily: Oh! I actually am expecting Vinland Saga 1 to be shipped to my house sometime today. I’ve heard that people who like Attack on Titan/Shingeki no Kyojin would like it a lot, so I decided to go and buy it. It’s a two-in-one volume plus hardcover, so I’m pretty excited to get it.
Robin: I too have heard a lot of buzz around Vinland Saga, so I’m curious to finally read it.
Eva: We seem to be unanimous on Vinland Saga. It’s one of those books that no one thought would ever get released in the US, so I’m really excited to take a look.
