Roy MacKenzie grew up in the wonderful land of Commerce, MI, before heading east to Ypsilanti, where he earned his BS in Literature and Philosophy from Eastern Michigan University. After a brief but exciting stint with the government, he headed farther east to New England, where he received his MLS from Simmons College. Now he works as a reference librarian at the Public Library of Brookline, and as an Admin Assistant at the Cambridge Public Library, in Massachusetts. His love of comics was formed in elementary school when a wise uncle gave him a huge pile of old X-Men comics to read during summer vacation. While his dreams of being a comic artist faded away (it turns out you actually have to be able to draw), his love of graphic story telling only grew over the years. Working for three years in an anime/manga shop during college only deepened this love. Now he helps cultivate and plan displays for the CPL’s growing graphic novel collection. In addition to reading and talking about comics, Roy also loves pulp adventure novels, detective stories, gaming, and robots.
