Atsushi Okubo’s Soul Eater Soul Art is, as its title indicates, an art book composed of Soul Eater art. This book is comprised of a combination of content from different sources, including tankoban volume covers, sticker designs from the Japanese DVD releases, paint marker paintings, and even some collaborations with other mangaka. There are also page spreads from Gangan magazine, in which Soul Eater is serialized, and art that depicts characters from the Soul Eater video game released in Japan, Monotone Princess.
Atsushi Okubo’s art style is hard to describe. In his paintings, the art can seem somewhat chaotic at first, but it isn’t disorganized to the extent that it becomes unattractive. Okubo uses white backgrounds more often in his work than other mangaka.
The book has extras in the back with comments on each piece that note where the image was originally published and may include artist’s comments from Okubo himself. The book is hardcover, 12.2 x 8.7 inches, and has a plastic slipcase.
