Afterlife with Archie (Archie Comics, 9781619889088)
Thomas: This has been hyped to the moon and back and I can’t wait to finally read it.
Attack on Titan: Colossal Edition Volume 1 (Kodansha, 9781612629711)
Thomas: Having Attack On Titan in physical media is bound to help some anime clubs get around navigating the licensing issues currently taking place with streaming sources.
Before Watchmen: Minutemen/Silk Spectre (DC, 9781401245122)
Allen: Has anyone read those Before Watchmen books? Are they worth reading? Necessary? I want to pass on them but man…dat Darwyn Cooke.
Thomas: They’re good comics in their own right and worth reading, especially if you like the creative teams assigned to each character. However, I don’t consider them necessary or enlightening, just well done tributes.
Dragon Ball Full Color Volume 3: Saiyan Arc (Viz, 9781421566016)
Thomas: The teens in my library go nuts for these editions, even if (especially if) they have read the original manga and watched the anime. This series will never die!
Dragon Girl Volume 1: Secret Valley (Andrews McMeel, 9781449441838)
Jennifer W: Has anyone read Dragon Girl? It looks interesting.
Jessikah: I am looking forward to Dragon Girl. I just finished reading it, and I really enjoyed it!
Hellblazer Volume 8: Rake at the Gates of Hell (DC, 9781401247492)
Thomas: Garth Ennis knows how to end his story runs, y’all.
Lupin the 3rd: the Complete First Series (Discotek)
Allen: Oooooh I want to get my hands on that Lupin collection! I’ve been pining to see the original series after the seeing The Woman Called Fujiko Hime.
Saeyong: Me, too, excitement for Lupin the Third! My only prior experience with the series was The Castle of Cagliostro, which made The Woman…Fujiko a rather shocking experience. I hear the original manga were a lot more gritty and adult. (glee)
Millenium Snow Volume 3 (Viz, 9781421572444)
Eva: Volume 3 of Millennium Snow is finally here! I’ve been waiting literally years for this book. It’s by the same author as Ouran High School Host Club, so if you’re a fan of that series, check this one out, too.
The Misadventures of Salem Hyde Volume 2: Big Birthday Bash (Amulet, 9781419710261)
Jennifer W: I really liked the first Salem Hyde book and I’m very pleased the series is continuing. Another popular book to hand out this summer.
Nathan Hale’s Hazardous Tales Volume 4: Treaties, Trenches, Mud, and Blood (Abrams, 9781419708084)
Jennifer W: I’m VERY excited about Nathan Hale’s latest historical adventure. Our library’s copy just came and I’m eagerly waiting to be first to read it. Big Bad Ironclad is still my favorite, but I’m willing to change my mind!
Eva: A new Nathan Hale’s Hazardous Tales book? I’m ALL IN! The funny in these books make the history painless and, man, is the funny funny. Good stuff.
Jessikah: I also love anything Nathan Hale does, so I second (third?) the excitement for the newest issue of his historical fiction series.
Tessa: I’m another one who is super excited about the new Nathan Hale!!
Samurai Jack Volume 1 (IDW, 9781613778944)
Marissa: Looking forward to Samurai Jack. That brings back memories.
Jessikah: I do have to say, I am really looking forward to Samurai Jack! I used to love the animated series, but there was never any real closure! It’s been a while since Samurai Jack was popular. I hope having a graphic novel series renews interest in the original material. And, of course I also hope we get to see Jack finally defeat Aku once and for all!
Seraph of the End Volume 1: Vampire Reign (Viz, 9781421571508)
Marissa: I’m super excited for Seraph of the End. I saw it advertised at Bookcon.
