Beautiful Creatures: the Manga (Yen Press, 9780316182713)
Jennifer W: I almost never buy graphic adaptations of books, but manga adaptations seem to be much more popular – has anyone seen Beautiful Creatures?
Snow: I’d like to see Beautiful Creatures. I’m not usually a fan of novel adaptations, but I’ve liked enough of the ones from Yen Press to make me pretty sure I’ll like this one too. (Plus maybe it will wash the movie trailer out of my eyes. WHY, if you are casting a movie set in the Lowcountry of South Carolina would you cast EMMA THOMPSON? Usually I adore her, but her “Southern accent” is making my ears bleed.)
Ninjago Volume 6: Warriors of Stone (Papercutz, 9781597073783)
Jennifer W: We are huge fans of Lego Ninjago here and this one has been pre-ordered for a while!
Penguins of Madagascar: Operation Weakest Link & Other Stories (Ape Entertainment, 9781937676506)
Jennifer W: I have some of the other Penguin comics. They’re not super amazing as far as literary quality, but the kids do like them (I admit to being a Penguin fan myself). However, they come in a very flimsy paperback so if you’re going to buy them for a library, spend a little more money on a prebind.
Sketch Monsters Book 2: the New Kid (Oni Press, 9781620100127)
Jennifer: I thought the first Sketch Monsters book was cute but extremely weird – not something I’d buy for the library.
