New graphic novels and anime come out every week!
To help you stay on top of the new releases, we present the following list of graphic novels compiled from Diamond Comic Distributors’ complete weekly shipping list, available from PreviewsWorld.com, and anime from Anime News Network’s Releases encyclopedia. We aim to update this feature, Hot Off the Press, weekly.
Keep in mind that titles are not always available from book vendors on the same dates as they are released in comic book stores, so not all of these will be available everywhere at the same time. Check with your vendors, just to be sure!
Some of this week’s highlights:
I’M NOT A PLASTIC BAG HC: Rachel Hope Allison’s mostly wordless environmental tale imagines the Great Pacific Garbage Patch as a sentient being, highlighting humanities’ responsibility for the problems we create.
JERUSALEM: CHRONICLES FROM THE HOLY CITY HC: Guy Delisle’s (Burma Chronicles, Pyongyang) most recent travel memoir examines Jerusalem from a visitor’s perspective, thoughtfully observing different aspects of this complicated place.
DARK SHADOWS: BEST OF THE ORIGINAL SERIES TP: Just in time for the Tim Burton movie, Hermes Press presents a reprint of Gold Key Comics’ companion series to the television show, originally published in 1968-1976. Vampire drama!
TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES ARCHIE 100 PG SPECTACULAR: Reprints Archie comics’ adaptation of the 1980’s animated television series. Talk of the upcoming movie is bringing out nostalgia for the show, and a simpler time when the turtles were merely teenage mutant ninja turtles rather than teenage mutant ninja alien turtles.
NOTE: For titles listed in Diamond Comics list GN = graphic novel, TP = trade paperback, and HC = hardcover. For library purposes, there isn’t a huge difference between a GN and a TP.
