Big fat booooos to the following:

This is making me extremely NOT happy this week. Why?  WHY?

I wasn’t happy when they initially announced the development of a live action Akira.

With the Akira live-action movie, it seems like the people behind it are making every choice they can to ensure that people who are a fan of the epic manga and the unspeakably awesome anime are not going to like it.  Maybe they want to make sure that none of us will be in the theater to judge the film, which on its face seems impossible to make well.  As one commentator on Comic Book Resources put it, “That seems like perfect casting to me. When making a movie no fan wants to see, get an actress who always looks like she doesn’t want to be there.”

This whole Operation Anime things is horrible. We have been using Operation Anime the past two summer with huge success.

I’m just going to keep looking at that Akira cover and using it to destroy all news of the remake from my mind.  Somehow.
